PreviewLabs’ work on the iVision prototype was featured in a blog post by KU Leuven, spotlighting the role of serious games in treating Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI). Developed in collaboration with researchers at KU Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the prototype consists of four games designed to train specific visual and cognitive skills in children with CVI.
CVI is a neurological condition that affects how the brain processes visual information. Traditional therapy often requires intensive clinician involvement. The iVision prototype, however, offers a scalable alternative by letting children train independently through adaptive gameplay.
The games—MatchMaker, Hurricane Chaos, Maze Explorer 2D, and Maze Explorer 3D—target six skill areas: visual discrimination, object recognition, spatial perception, figure-ground perception, motion perception, and visual short-term memory. Medical professionals can tailor the difficulty to each child’s needs by adjusting game parameters. A reward system, introduced in the second iteration, motivates players to keep improving.

It underscores how the iVision prototype supports the development of essential visual skills, all while allowing researchers to monitor progress and personalize treatment without direct, ongoing intervention.
