A study called “Evaluation of a Virtual Reality E-Cigarette Prevention Game for Adolescents” examines the effectiveness of Invite Only VR, a virtual reality (VR) game developed by PreviewLabs for the Play4Real XR department at Yale University.

Invite Only VR set out to help adolescents say ‘no’ to e-cigarettes. This study shows that it appears to succeed at this.
The goal of Invite Only VR is to prevent e-cigarette use among adolescents. The research focuses on assessing how this interactive VR intervention influences adolescents’ attitudes, knowledge, and intentions regarding e-cigarette consumption.
The study was authored by Dr. Veronica Weser, Dr. Lindsay Duncan, Dr. Brandon Sands, Dr. Andrew Schartmann, Sandra Jacobo, Dr. Kimberly Hieftje, and PreviewLabs founder Bernard François. Its findings indicate that participants who engaged with the VR game demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge about the risks associated with e-cigarette use and a decrease in their intention to use e-cigarettes in the future. These results suggest that VR-based interventions can be a promising tool in e-cigarette prevention efforts among adolescents.
