The state-funded Belgian national news website VRT NWS published an article about our work with Yale University’s Play4REAL Lab on the Invite Only VR prototype. It talks about the goal of the game, which is to help adolescents say no to vaping and e-cigarettes, regardless of peer pressure.
Invite Only VR will be a prototype in which students are exposed to peer pressure situations regarding smoking and vaping. Play4REAL Lab is doing preliminary research into the subject, because there is a significant rise in the usage of e-cigarettes amongst youths. While electronic cigarettes and vapes might seem less harmful than their traditional counterparts, they are still a great threat to our health. Play4REAL is researching whether they can help adolescents resist peer pressure situations by simulating them in a safe VR environment.
A big talking point in the article is the fact that Play4REAL contracted PreviewLabs for this project. They interviewed our founder Bernard François to comment on the project. He explained that Yale University works with PreviewLabs to develop the prototype based on the insights from their research into the topic.
